Netflix’s period hit drama, “Bridgerton,” has taken the world by storm. Shonda Rhimes, creator of beloved shows like Grey’s Anatomy and How to Get Away with Murder, proved why is she one of the best and did it again with her masterpiece called “Bridgerton.” I’m sure that all of us got enamored with the show for a variety of different reasons.

Perhaps it was the drama each character faced with the pressure of marriage and maintaining a perfect image in society. Or it could have been the obvious sexual tension and steamy sex scenes between Lady Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) and Duke Simon Basset (Regé-Jean Page). It might have even been the gossip worthy scandal that caught our immediate attention. But for me personally, what totally caught my eye was the fashion.

From the wigs on their heads to the heels on their feet, every item of clothing chosen was a bold fashion piece. The costume designer, Ellen Mirojnick, did a masterful job of choosing historically accurate outfits that really brought 19th century English fashion to life right in front of our eyes. It totally made me wish I was a duchess, simply so I can wear the same outfits the characters got to.

If you binged all eight episodes within a couple days like me, you are probably anxiously waiting for season two to get here already. It’s gonna require a bit of patience, but you don’t have to wait if you’re looking for some “Bridgerton” inspired fashion for your own personal wardrobe. Want to know how to dress like your favorite ladies and royals? Here are some great wardrobe options so you can perfect that “Bridgerton” fashion.

Corsets

Corset culture is back and it’s here to stay. The revival of corsets in fashion wasn’t necessarily due to “Bridgerton,” but it sure as hell sparked a whole new appreciation for them. Thankfully modern day corsets don’t require you to be laced in so tight you can’t breathe. To truly channel the Regency Era spirit you can layer a sleek corset on top of one of your favorite dresses. Accessorize with some nice jewelry and lace gloves and you’ll practically feel like Queen Charlotte herself.

Empire Waist Gowns

I didn’t even realize I needed an empire waist gown in my life until I saw Daphne Bridgerton wear them. She served major looks with those absolutely stunning dresses. These gowns practically scream “Bridgerton”. Empire waist dresses were one of the most popular silhouettes of 19th century fashion, so if you’re going for a “Bridgerton” inspired look, this is a must have.

Brocaded Shoes

I’m not going to lie, prior to “Bridgerton” I always associated brocade with antique malls and my grandparent’s old fashion curtains. I didn’t really see how elegant it could be until I watched the show. Now, I have to buy brocaded clothing asap. Or more specifically, brocaded shoes.

A brocade ball gown may be a little bit too much, but brocaded footwear can go with multiple outfits. There are so many options out there with different colors and patterns that you can incorporate into your wardrobe, yet still get the same “Bridgerton” inspired feel to your outfit.

Puff Sleeeves

Puffed shoulders and sleeves were a constant throughout the season. Therefore it has to be a must have for your closet. At every gala and event, the gowns typically featured decorative puff sleeves for the ladies. It added a delicate yet elegant touch to the whole look.

Designers from the 19th century clearly knew what they were doing, because puff sleeves look just as amazing today as it did back then. It’s a distinct feature making the garment stand out, but you still look classy and stylish at the same time. Regardless of how you style it, puff sleeves most definitely will also give you Regency Era vibes.

Floral Print

Bring on the flower power! Floral pattern made multiple appearances on the costumes, but my mind instantly goes to the Featherington family. Their bright colored gowns already made them a standout at every occasion, but the added floral print was a touch of genius.

Floral couldn’t have come at a better time either because the spring season is right around the corner. Whether you’re dancing the night away at a gala or casually sipping tea and eating biscuits with ladies, a floral print outfit will make you look chic and elegant at any occasion.

Lace

Seriously, was there a single look that DIDN’T incorporate lace in some type of way. Lace gloves, lace gowns, lace sleeves, it was seen everywhere. So that’s a sign to show off all the lace in your closet as well. As much as we loved the sex and scandal, we can’t forget the romance that was in the show as well. Lace brings out a more romantic feel to an outfit. Wearing too much may be a bit overwhelming. If you pair it with other similar patterns and textures, you’ll definitely feel like a modern day royal.
