About

In 2016, a year after Audree Lopez moved to New York City to pursue her career at one of the largest magazine publishing corporations, she started receiving messages from students around the country asking for career advice. She told her story on her blog SimplyAudreeKate.com, Skyped into student organization meetings across the country to tell her career story and held countless phone calls with aspiring fashion students.

A few years before, Audree co-founded a fashion student organization at her alma mater, Arizona State University (@asubof) and worked with the business and art colleges to create their now fashion merchandising program for her senior honors thesis. She quickly realized she was one of many students across the country who didn’t have the industry network, geographical advantage or formal fashion education to help aid her in breaking into the fashion industry.

In 2017 Audree hosted career workshops at universities around the country, published her e-book, Fashion Fundamentals: Internships, Networking and Social Media in 2018 and a year later, launched the digital course and community, Fashion Fundamentals.

Earlier this year, Audree and her team redesigned Fashion Fundamentals to be an evergreen program with 10 digital lessons, 30+ industry interviews and live mentorship sessions. During this redesign, Audree created the Fashion Fundamentals Foundation, College Ambassador Program and the Fashion Fundamentals Community Blog.

The goal of these programs are to provide the opportunity for students around the world to be part of a strong-knit community and gain relevant industry experience.

Fashion Fundamentals is a digital course and community for students looking to break into the fashion and creative industries.

Students will learn necessary tools to help them launch their fashion career and land their dream internship and job. They will learn how to build a competitive resume, make genuine and lasting industry connections, create a strong online presence and network, ace their interviews and so much more!

Audree’s mission for Fashion Fundamentals has always been to create positive change in the fashion industry, and offer resources to every type of student — no matter their race, age, educational background or geographical location.

Student diversity programs have helped Audree in her career, and she wants to provide those same opportunities for underrepresented communities within the fashion industry. Audree was selected for Hearst’s Diversity Internship Program when she was in college and placed at Redbook magazine. She was one of five students in the program and strongly believes this experience helped her launch her career and was a catalyst for starting Fashion Fundamentals for other students.

The Fashion Fundamentals Foundation was created in Summer 2020 as a scholarship and mentorship program for students of color. Learn more about the foundation HERE.
